Frequently Asked Questions

How do I connect my camera to FTP?

Most pro cameras have a dedicated 'Network' or 'Communication' menu. You'll need to create a new Connection Profile, select 'FTP', and enter our server details (Host: ftp.rilavek.com, Port: 21).

Does this work over a mobile hotspot (5G/LTE)?

Yes. Rilavek works perfectly over mobile hotspots (iPhone/Android), Starlink, or Venue Wi-Fi. Because FTP is a lightweight protocol, it is often more stable than proprietary tethering software when bandwidth is limited.

Can I upload RAW files or just JPEGs?

You can upload both. Many sports and wedding photographers choose to shoot RAW+JPEG, sending the small JPEGs to the cloud for instant social media editing while keeping RAWs on the card for backup. Rilavek accepts any file type (.ARW, .CR3, .NEF).

Is this secure for client work?

Absolutely. Each photographer gets a unique, isolated identity ('Sender'). We isolate uploads into dedicated folders for every session. Your data is encrypted in transit (FTPS/SFTP) and at rest in your Destination (AWS S3, Google Drive, etc.).

Do you preserve file metadata (EXIF/IPTC)?

Yes. Rilavek acts as a transparent bridge. We never strip or alter your file headers. Copyright info, GPS data, and star ratings applied in-camera are preserved 100% when they land in your cloud bucket.

Can I trigger automations like Slack notifications?

Yes. Unlike basic FTP servers, Rilavek emits real-time Webhooks for every upload. You can connect these to Zapier, Slack, or continuous integration pipelines to build powerful custom workflows without writing code.
