How to Connect Your First Data Store

Rilavek is a streaming bridge, meaning it never stores your files on intermediate disks. Before you can send any files over FTP, SFTP, or HTTP, you need to designate the target storage bucket where your files should land.

Step 1: Choose Your Storage Provider

In your Rilavek dashboard, navigate to Data Stores in the left sidebar and select New Data Store. Select the tile corresponding to where your target bucket is hosted (such as Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, Wasabi, MinIO, or generic S3-compatible storage).

Step 2: Enter Bucket Details & Credentials

You will need four core values from your cloud provider console:

FieldDescriptionExample
NameA human-readable label to identify this destination in your Pipes.Production S3
Bucket NameThe exact name of the bucket created in your cloud provider account.production-archive
RegionThe AWS or provider region code hosting the bucket.us-east-1
Access Key & SecretAPI credentials with write permissions for this bucket.AKIAIOSFODNN7EXAMPLE
Required IAM Bucket Permissions

To keep your setup secure, create a dedicated IAM user or application key restricted to this single bucket. The minimum required S3 permissions are:

s3:PutObject, s3:AbortMultipartUpload, s3:ListBucket

Step 3: Save & Verify

Click Save Data Store. Rilavek immediately runs a non-destructive write check to verify your bucket credentials and IAM permissions. Once verified, your data store is saved and you'll find it ready in your Data Stores list to attach to any Pipe. If your credentials or permissions aren't valid, an error message alerts you on the spot so you can tweak the settings.
